Interior cells

My next experiments were with loading an entire cell. I started out by writing all the object positions and mesh names to a file in a cell-loader program, and then displaying them with a separate Ogre program. I only used a flat ambient light in these shots. The results weren't too bad for a first attempt though.

I tried some other cells too. Notice that effects like water surfaces and transparency (in the tree leaves) are missing.

Shadows

I experiented a little bit with shadows as well. Sometimes it looked really cool:

But I had to disable them in the end. First of all, some meshes crashed Ogre when shadows were turned on. (This might have been fixed in more recent versions though.) Secondly, it was very hard to make it look good consistantly. Here are some of the less fortunate shots:

Exterior cells

I also tried loading a few exterior cells. But since I don't render any landscape yet (only meshes), it ends up looking very surreal:
